Sasha and Michael’s Columbia Collective wedding in Seattle moved through three distinct parts of the city: getting ready at the Kimpton Palladian Hotel, wedding portraits around Pike Place Market, and an outdoor ceremony and reception at Columbia Collective.
The day mixed clean editorial portraits with a lot of personality. Sasha wanted flash-heavy getting-ready photos, they included their dog Charlie in the first look, the wedding party took a party bus across Seattle, and the reception ended with an ice cream cart and a techno-heavy dance floor.
It was a full Seattle wedding day, but each location served a clear purpose. The Palladian gave us darker, moodier interiors, Pike Place brought the movement and city energy, and Columbia Collective gave them space for an outdoor ceremony, family photos, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing.
Getting Ready at Kimpton Palladian Hotel in Seattle
The day started at one of Seattle’s most stylish boutique stays: The Palladian Hotel, nestled in the heart of downtown. This space was made for editorial-style photos. Sasha and her bridesmaids got ready in the bridal suite, which offered dramatic lighting, plush vintage decor, and room for the entire crew to pop off. Makeup was done on-site by the incredibly talented MKM Cosmo, who brought Sasha’s glam vision to life. Her look was soft but bold—perfectly matching the high-fashion energy Sasha wanted throughout the day.
Sasha specifically asked for some flash-heavy shots with a fashion-forward edge, and the result? Some of my favorite bridal party photos of all time. I’ll never forget the series of Sasha and her bridesmaids jumping on the couch, mid-laugh, with the flash firing like we were at a Vogue afterparty. It was raw, bold, and completely her vibe. Meanwhile, Michael was getting ready in a nearby suite with his groomsmen. We took a few quiet portraits in the hallway outside his room—the kind of clean, dramatic flash portraits that show off both the suit and the mood.
And because no Sasha and Michael story would be complete without their pup Charlie, the Palladian’s dog-friendly policy came in clutch. After their emotional first look in the bridal suite, Sasha had one more surprise lined up—a first look with Charlie. Let’s just say there were happy tears, tail wags, and at least a few squeals from everyone in the room.
Planning a Columbia Collective Wedding in Seattle?
A Columbia Collective wedding can work especially well if you want to include downtown Seattle portraits before heading to the venue. Sasha and Michael got ready at the Palladian Hotel, stopped at Pike Place Market, and then traveled to Columbia Collective by party bus.
That kind of timeline gives you a lot of visual variety, but travel and crowds need to be built into the schedule. Pike Place Market can get packed, especially on a sunny weekend, so I would keep the portrait plan focused and have transportation ready rather than trying to cover every part of the market.
Once you arrive at Columbia Collective, the rest of the day can stay in one place. There are indoor and outdoor areas for wedding party photos, family portraits, the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception details, and dancing. That makes the second half of the timeline much easier after moving through downtown earlier in the day.
Portraits at Pike Place Market
Once Sasha and Michael were dressed and glowing, we hit the streets for one of the most iconic Seattle backdrops: Pike Place Market. It was one of those classic sunny Seattle days—the kind where the whole city seems to spill into the streets. The market was packed, and all eyes were on Sasha and Michael. But these two? They thrived under the attention.
Crowds moved around us as we shot in the middle of the bustling chaos. We caught candid moments and cinematic stills—holding hands crossing the road, laughing under the Pike Place Sign, walking through the market as crowds moved around them. The location felt busy and unpredictable, which was exactly what made the portraits work.
Party Bus from Pike Place Market to Columbia Collective
After the market, the wedding party boarded a party bus to Columbia Collective in Georgetown. And yes—it was as fun as it sounds. Music blasting, champagne toasts flying, and everyone buzzing with excitement. It was the perfect transition from city energy to venue elegance.
Columbia Collective is one of those venues that feels both cozy and expansive. It offers bright indoor spaces, lush outdoor ceremony spots, and lots of natural textures like wood and greenery to work with. Sasha and Michael’s design choices elevated it even further—with thoughtfully arranged florals by Pollen in Love bringing softness and color into every room.
Before guests arrived, we snuck in some solo bridal portraits of Sasha in the Bridal Suite at Columbia Collective. The window light there is perfection—soft and glowy, with just the right amount of drama. Meanwhile, the guys soaked in the sunshine in the sunroom, where we snapped a few group shots that felt more like fashion editorial than traditional groomsmen poses.
Wedding Party and Family Photos at Columbia Collective
One of the best features of Columbia Collective is its layout—seamless indoor/outdoor flow, which made group photos a breeze. We headed outside first for bridal party portraits, where we captured a mix of posed and candid moments full of laughs and sass. You could tell this wedding party wasn’t just along for the ride—they were hyping Sasha and Michael up every step of the way.
For family portraits, we stepped inside near the wine bar. Flash was our best friend here, giving us that crisp, polished look while still maintaining warmth. Everyone looked amazing, and the space gave the whole thing an intimate, celebratory feel.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony and Bubble Exit at Columbia Collective
The ceremony itself took place outside on the venue’s grassy lawn area, framed by simple floral touches and blue skies. Sasha and Michael exchanged vows with joy and sincerity, and you could feel the emotion ripple through the crowd. When they were pronounced married, guests filled the aisle with bubbles as Sasha and Michael walked back together.
There’s something about bubbles floating through the sunlit air that makes everything feel lighter and more playful. These shots ended up being some of the most joyful images of the day—Michael laughing, Sasha beaming, friends cheering around them.
Marriage Certificate and Cocktail Hour in the Sunroom
After the ceremony, guests headed to cocktail hour while Sasha and Michael snuck upstairs to the sunroom to sign their marriage certificate. It was a quiet moment of reflection and officialdom amidst the buzz of celebration—a breath of fresh air before the night picked up again.
Columbia Collective Reception Details and Ice Cream Cart
The reception space at Columbia Collective came to life with the help of Pollen in Love, whose floral designs were soft, whimsical, and full of texture. Every table felt intentional. Every bouquet had movement. And the floral arrangements around the sweetheart table made it feel like a romantic garden indoors.
As guests found their seats and dinner was served, the toasts began. Sasha and Michael are clearly loved—deeply and loudly. There were heartfelt speeches that brought tears to eyes, followed by hilarious moments (shoutout to the best man) that had everyone in stitches. It was one of those receptions where you’re laughing with a full heart, knowing you’re part of something genuine.
Then came the ice cream cart.
This wasn’t just dessert—it was a story. Early on in their relationship, Sasha and Michael had gone on a few ice cream dates. Sasha loved ice cream. Michael… not so much. But being the gentleman he is, he never told her. It became a running joke between them, and for the wedding, Sasha brought it full circle by surprising him (and the guests) with a whimsical cart by Aha Sugar Co..
It was adorable. It was delicious. It was very them.
Techno Wedding Reception at Columbia Collective
Most wedding receptions follow a pretty similar music arc: pop hits, some classics, maybe a bit of line dancing. But Sasha had a vision—and that vision was techno. As a passionate raver, she curated a soundtrack that took the whole celebration up a level. Think: pulsing lights, big beats, and non-stop dancing.
Guests who had never heard of Sasha’s favorite DJs were suddenly vibing. People danced like nobody was watching. The energy didn’t drop for a second. As a photographer, I love capturing these moments—not just for the movement, but for the expressions. Sasha and Michael owned that dance floor. It was the kind of reception where you could tell: this wasn’t just a wedding, it was a party they would’ve wanted to attend even if it wasn’t their own.
Columbia Collective Wedding FAQ
Can we take Pike Place Market portraits before a Columbia Collective wedding?
Yes. Pike Place Market and Columbia Collective can fit into the same wedding timeline, but you should leave room for downtown crowds, loading the wedding party, and Seattle traffic. Keeping the Pike Place portrait list focused will help prevent the rest of the day from feeling rushed.
How much photography coverage works for this type of Seattle wedding?
For getting ready at a hotel, downtown portraits, travel to the venue, ceremony, reception details, speeches, and open dancing, at least eight hours is usually the better starting point. A second photographer can also help cover both sides of getting ready and more guest reactions throughout the day. This wedding was 10-hours for me and 8 hours for my second photographer.
Does Columbia Collective offer enough portrait variety?
Yes. The venue has indoor and outdoor spaces, staircases, windows, garden areas, a sunroom, and reception spaces that give you several different looks without leaving the property.
