Priya and Lucky flew in from Atlanta because Lucky wanted something completely out of this world for their engagement session. And what better backdrop than the Pacific Northwest in the winter?
As a Seattle wedding photographer and Washington elopement photographer I love when couples are ready to turn their engagement session into an adventure. Winter shoots in the PNW can be challenging with road closures and fast-changing weather, but they can also lead to some of the most dramatic, unforgettable photos.
Snowshoeing to the Top
After looking at several options, we decided Artist Point would be perfect. Of course, in the winter the road to Artist Point is closed, which meant there was only one way up — snowshoes.
We rented gear, messaged my friend Baxter who knows the mountain well, and set out together.
The hike was long, challenging, and definitely a workout, but Priya decided to do it in a flowing red dress. Seeing her hiking through the snow, dress trailing behind her, was unreal and made the whole experience feel even more adventurous.
When we finally reached the top, we were rewarded with a clear day and an incredible view of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker.
Engagement Photos in the Snow
Even though it was freezing, the hike kept us warm enough to enjoy the views. Priya and Lucky leaned into it, laughing, holding onto each other, and taking it all in.
The red dress against the snow was striking and gave us bold, editorial-style images that would look at home in a magazine. Some of my favorite photos are wide shots with the mountain peaks in the background — perfect examples of why I love being a Pacific Northwest elopement photographer.
Kind Words from Priya & Lucky
Priya shared:
“We had the absolute pleasure of working with Andre for our engagement photoshoot, and we couldn't be happier with the experience! He went above and beyond, He hiked with us to capture breathtaking mountain views and created the most stunning shots against the snow-covered peaks. His adventurous spirit and eye for detail made the entire experience so much fun.
Not only is he a talented photographer, but he's also a genuine and easygoing person who made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. If you’re looking for a photographer who’s down for an adventure and captures those raw, magical moments, Andre is your guy. Highly recommend!”
And Lucky added:
“What an amazing person and photographer you are Andre! You’ve been such a great help from the beginning! I remember our first visit to Seattle and where family emergency occurred and we had to cancel the photoshoot, we were really upset and then few months later we decided to revisit and complete the photoshoot. Without hesitation you said you will definitely make sure that’s everything goes smoothly. You definitely delivered for sure! It was an amazing hike with beautiful views and we are so glad that you helped us capture those moments and the work speaks for itself! I would definitely recommend Andre for any type of photoshoot in Seattle!”
